Hixson PTO Meeting
Meeting Minutes
11/19/2013
6:30 p.m.
Dr. Heisserer discussed the reading curriculum from the
district in the hopes to increase proficiency. He reported that he continues to
see the effects of Rachel’s Challenge and the targeted acts of kindness. Dr.
Heisserer also discussed the service projects 10 Thanksgiving baskets for 10
Hixson Families and the Student Council’s food drive. He apologized for not
advising parents of the topic for the Pulitizer Foundation presentation. He
reported how proud he was of the students, their behavior, and the thoughtful
questions that they posed.
II. PTO meetingOctober meeting minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report

Lisa Liss discussed the budget and reported that
the balance is $1982.61.
House Tour Update
·
Cathryn Gowan reported that House Tour tickets
can now be purchased at Straubs, Rolling Ridge, Mac Hardware, Freddie’s, and in
the Hixson office. We are in desperate need of volunteers to serve as
Host/Hostesses and to donate food for the Boutique. Please contact Cathryn at cpg228@yahoo.com. We can’t pull off this
event without your help so please consider donating some of your time.
President’s Report

Tracy Dunlap congratulated Dr. Heisserer on
receiving the James M.
Holobaugh Honor from Washington University. She reported that we are still looking
for someone to chair both the Fundraising and the Student Activities
committees.
III. Discussion
Topics
Book Fair – The fair made $1020 in books and $720 in cash
that will be used towards installing a Smart Board in the Library.
Library – Circulation is continuing to increase.
District – Discussions are on-going to solve the needs of
the growing enrollment. No decisions have been made.
