Trivia Night and Silent Auction

Hixson's Trivia Night is on February 7, 2015. For more information and to register your table of 8, visit http://hxtrivia.blogspot.com/.

Each team will be creating a basket to be auctioned at trivia night. Please consider donating an item to your child's team's basket. Click here to view the themes each team has chosen. Alternatively, if you prefer to make a monetary donation, your child's team teachers would be happy to use it to purchase items for their basket.

If you have an item you'd like to donate to the silent auction that is not basket-related, please send in to the office. We thank you for your support!

Yearbooks

The last day to order a 2014-2015 yearbook is January 26. Yearbooks may be ordered by sending $21 in cash or check (payable to WGSD) to the main office.

Tech Updates - Jason P. Heisel

In an effort to improve access to information, specifically for parents, I have developed the HMS Parent Center. The primary function is to give quick access to the people and information that parents have requested.  As always, I am looking for feedback to improve and make more useful. A few of the main features:
Contact Center - direct email access to those people you may need in the building
Full page Calendar - a main focus of the page so you can see a whole month view in one place
PTO Blog - an embedded RSS feed of the PTO blog

Free Movie Tickets for Students

Looking for something to do with your middle schooler this weekend? A parent shared this with us, just in time for our observation of Dr. King's birthday.
Just in time for commemorations of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, Deaconess Foundation is partnering with Ford Foundation and a group of African-American business and civic leaders to provide free admission for up to 6,250 St. Louis area teens to see Academy Award®-nominated film “SELMA” at participating theaters as part of the national SELMA Education Project.
Beginning today, students in the 7th, 8th, or 9th grade can show their student ID or report card at the box office of any participating theater to receive free tickets while they last. Participating theaters in the St. Louis area are: AMC Creve Coeur 12 (Creve Coeur), Moolah Theatre and Lounge (St. Louis), Regal St. Louis Stadium 18 & IMAX (Hazelwood) and Wehrenberg O’Fallon 15 Cine (O’Fallon, IL).
For more information about the program, group sales or other participating cities, visit www.SelmaMovie.com/studenttickets. (Text taken from the Deaconess Foundation website.)
