8th grade science students show off their water filters they created.  The students did an outstanding job showing and explaining how their filters remove dirt and other elements from their water samples.

Celebrate National Education Week by Touring WGSD Schools!
Please join us in celebrating public education with a tour of WGSD schools from 9 a.m. to noon Tues., Nov. 17.RSVP to Lori Medlin medlin.lori@wgmail.org by Nov. 10 with your contact information.  We hope to see you on the 17th!


Rachel's Challenge

We are excited to welcome Rachel's Challenge back to Hixson this year. Our schedule will include the following events on November 12:

  • 7th Grade-Year One Assembly
  • 8th Grade-Year Two Assembly
  • Friends of Rachel Leadership Training for select students
  • Community Event in auditorium at 6pm for Hixson parents and friends

Hixson Holiday Baskets

Our Counselors are once again hoping to put together 20 Thanksgiving feasts for Hixson families in need.  Hixson families and staff are welcome to sign up to donate items to fill the baskets!  Please click here to sign up to donate. All items should be dropped off at the counselors' office by 11-19-15.

If you are a Hixson family in need or know of a family who could benefit from a holiday meal, please click here. You can return this form to the grade level counselor. Come shop at Barnes & Noble (Ladue or West County Mall locations) on Saturday, November 14, 2015, any time during business hours, and help raise funds for the Webster Groves Orchestra Program.  You may either present a flyer, or just mention the fundraiser at checkout, and a portion of your sales will go to the WG Orchestra Program!  Even the Starbucks Café sales count!  Several student groups will be performing throughout the day at both locations.  Thanks for your support!


Student Council Food Drive - Nov. 2 through Nov. 20
Hixson is participating in a food drive competition with Nipher Middle School from Kirkwood. Last year, Nipher won the coveted "Turkey Day Trophy", so Student Council has set a goal of 220 items for each team. Students can place their donated items in their team barrel located in the main lobby. The winning Hixson team will get a popcorn party! To see the current standings, click here
