Arts for Autism

Mrs. Poe, orchestra teacher at Steger and at Hixson, sends the following request on behalf of Arts for Autism:

I wanted to take a minute and invite all of you to an event that I have put together with both several musician friends and my family.  This is a benefit concert in honor of my nephew who has Autism.  All proceeds from the event will go directly to Autism Speaks.

The benefit is this Friday, 3/1/13, at Maryville University’s Auditorium.  We will have a silent auction beginning at 6:00 pm, and the concert will start at 7:30 pm.  Admission is $10 at the door, with additional donations accepted.  We will be able to take credit cards as well.

We have several different acts performing, one of which is an American Idol Hollywood Week finalist from this current season.  This talented singer/songwriter has Aspberger’s himself, as well as ADD and OCD.  He is eager to share what role autism has played in his life and perform.

Should be a great show, and I would love to see any/all of you there!
