Hello Parents!
It is hard to believe we are already heading into March and springtime! Our students are working diligently on projects and progressing through their learning goals. I think we are all a bit excited to break into spring and have some better weather, especially for recess!
Hixson students are all engaged in learning and planning for their future at school next year. Our 8th graders are learning all about WGHS and registering for courses, our 7th graders are learning about all that 8th grade brings and their choices for electives, and we registered and spoke to 6th grade parents and students at Steger as well. It is wonderful to have such great teams at Steger, Hixson, and the High School to collaborate with to ensure smooth transitions for all of our students!

We consider many factors during the rigorous
scheduling process to place students on teams.
Some of these factors include: mix of female and male students, race and
ethnicity of students, elective choices, special classes (gifted, acceleration,
learning disability, reading/math support, etc.).

Styles Inventory Due Date: Complete by March 12th
It is our priority to make
all scheduling decisions in the best interest of the individual student. In order for us to have learning style
information on your child, we have created a Learning Styles Inventory
electronic survey to gather as much information as possible regarding how your
child learns best. Students should take
the following steps below for team placement.

Due to the complexity of
scheduling, we do not accept requests for specific teachers and teams. Please have your child take the Learning
Styles Inventory, the last question asks for you and your child to provide us
anecdotal feedback as well. We need
this information completed no later than March 12th to be considered
for team placement. We will work
diligently to match children and teams for success!!

- Conferences are March 11th and 12th (see below for registration information)
- No school for Hixson Friday, March 13th
- Spring Break is March 16th-20th
Hixson Spring Book Fair
The Scholastic PTO
Spring Book Fair will be coming to Hixson soon! Proceeds benefit the Hixson
Library. There are lots of shifts still available if you'd like to volunteer to

Spring Picture Day - March 12th
Packets were sent home with students last week to sign up for Spring pictures, if you are interested. If you have questions or did not receive a packet, please feel free to contact the Hixson office.
Spring Conferences
Spring conferences will be held after school on March 11th and 12th. For more information on scheduling a conference, please click here. We will once again have food trucks on both nights of conferences. The Meltdown truck will be here March 11 with soups and sandwiches. Sarah's Cake Stop will be here with delicious cupcakes and sweet treats on both nights. Pre-order forms will be coming out soon!
