Hixson Highlights - September 4, 2015

From the Principal, Dr. Smith...

Hello Hixson Families!

We hope you will have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend!  Please remember there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.  We look forward to seeing our kiddos again on Tuesday the 8th.

Monday, September 7th: NO SCHOOL

Wednesday, September 16th: PTO meeting/Speaker Series on Internet Safety.  Please join us to learn more about how to keep your children safe online.

Friday, September 18th: Term 1 Ends

Today was picture day!  If your child missed their picture being taken today, Friday October 23rd is picture re-take day.

I cannot stress enough how proud we are of our students at Hixson!  Our character focus this month is staying Ready, Respectful, and Responsible!  We have had many students who have been given a PAWSitive office referral for demonstrating one or more positive character traits.  I meet with each of these students to personally congratulate them and we follow up with a letter home to parents and guardians as well!  Keep up the amazing work students!

Our learning highlights this week include scientific inquiry and design, choosing good independent reading text and goal setting, understanding how to perform an improvisation in drama, exploring various countries in social studies and fun with integers!

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us, each week at Hixson just keeps getting better!

Trivia Night and Silent Auction - October 3rd

Start organizing your table for our annual trivia night and silent auction! This year, we have moved trivia night to the fall. Proceeds from this year's event will be used to bring the Rachel's Challenge program back to Hixson. For more information and to register your table of 8, please click here.

If you have items to donate to our silent auction, please send them to the main office at the attention of Gail Tumminello. Thank you!

Thank you for your support and encouragement of your children.  We look forward to our continued partnership!

Please let me know if I can be of help to you or your child in any way.  Feel free to email, call, or schedule a visit- my door is always open!
