Hello Hixson Families,
Happy early Thanksgiving. I hope you have a wonderful break next week reconnecting with each other! Due to the short week and break, there will not be a memo next week.
Webster Holiday House Tour, December 3rd
The annual Webster Holiday House Tour is quickly approaching and needs volunteers. This is a great PTO fundraising event that supports our kids every year. If you are able, please follow the link to sign up to volunteer. The PTO is also asking for any student volunteers to serve as bootie runners (getting baskets from back doors to the front). There is not a specific box for bootie runners on the sign up sheet but if you could note that when you sign up to volunteer, that would be great.
The link to sign up for volunteers is below:

Important Dates and Information for 8th graders and Parents Regarding Sports in HS
Important dates for 8th grade students and
parents who plan to play a sport in high school;
Many of our high school sports teams will schedule
activities over the summer to prepare for their seasons the following school
year. If you are interested in playing a sport in high school it is a
good idea to contact the head coach of that sport sometime in the spring to
find out about any summer activities that they may have scheduled. There
is a listing of all of our head coaches on our athletic website at www.statesmensports.com under the
“Inside WG Athletics” drop down menu. Below are some important dates to
be aware of in regards to our high school sports as you look forward to your
freshmen year.
· The
2018 summer dead period for all of our high school sports teams will be from
Saturday, July 28th through Sunday, August 5th.
This is a nine day period when none of our high school sports teams are allowed
to schedule any team related activities and is a perfect time to schedule
summer vacations without worrying if your son or daughter may miss something.
· The
first day of practices and tryouts for all of our fall sports in 2018 will be
Monday, August 6th. Students who are planning to tryout for
any of our fall sports teams should plan on having daily practices starting on
August 6th. Specific practice times and locations will be
available at the end of this school year. Fall sports at WGHS include
cross country for boys and girls, girls field hockey, football, girls golf,
boys soccer, softball, boys swimming, girls tennis, and girls volleyball.
· One
final reminder is that all students who play a sport at WGHS need to have a
current physical on file at the high school prior to participating in any
practice or tryout. To be valid for a particular school year, a physical
must have been given since February 1st of the previous school
year. So for the 2018-19 school year please plan to get a new physical
for your student sometime after February 1st, 2018.
If you have any additional questions about athletic
participation at WGHS please contact Jerry Collins at 314-918-4084 or collins.jerry@wgmail.org.
