Help Wanted, Upcoming Events and Information

January 19, 2018

Happy Friday, everyone!  I hope the week has been good to you and your family.  Here are a handful of things to share for this week:

Late Bus
For parents of bus riders, bus #3 was late arriving to Hixson this afternoon.  There was a delay with the bus returning from a field trip from Edgar, which impacted our pick up time.  The bus is running about 15 minutes behind schedule.

Help Wanted
Last week, we had a pipe burst in our library.  While it was inconvenient for many reasons, we've managed to make lemonade out of our lemons.  During the last two weeks, the old carpet has been replaced and some new movable bookshelves were brought in-we've had a library makeover!  Now our librarian and her team need your help.  If you are able, beginning Monday, 1/22 at 11am, please join the team as they reshelve all the books that had to be taken off the bookshelves.  You do not have to RSVP, just come into the main office and let them know you are here to volunteer in the library.
Mrs. T will reopen the library for our students on Tuesday.

8th Graders to Visit WGHS
Starting next week, our 8th graders will be visiting the HS by teams.  Teams sent out information earlier but we wanted to send another reminder.  The teams will depart on their day by bus and spend time at the HS from 9-11am.  If you do not want your child to participate, please contact your child's team leader.

The schedule for the visits is as follows:
Tuesday, 1/23:  Orion
Wednesday, 1/24:  Phoenix
Thursday, 1/25:  Hickory
Friday, 1/26:  Andromeda

WGSD Foundation Fundraiser
Mardi Gras at Cyrano's is fast approaching.  Please visit the Foundation website and join the festivities on February 11!

School Board Subcommittee on Enrollment Growth
The Webster Groves School District Board of Education will form a subcommittee to discuss projected growth in the district’s enrollment, following a study by consultant Charles Kofron that was presented at its retreat Jan. 6. The subcommittee will use the study to better understand current and future space needs.

Kofron’s report said that “births appear on an upward trajectory” through 2022-23 and elementary numbers are expected to continue to increase through the same period.

You can read the enrollment report here.

Have a great weekend reconnecting with each other.

With gratitude,
Grace
