Parents
around the district are coming together to do some important work around racial
equity. We’d like to build on that momentum here at the high school. As you may
have heard, there have been ongoing events at the high school that are
extremely concerning. We intend to strategize how we can best address these
matters and foster a culture that embraces diversity. Let’s meet
informally and discuss how we might support our students and address equity at
WGHS head on. Join us at the High School Library on February 21 at 7:00pm.
Incoming Freshman parents are welcome. We look forward to meeting with you
soon, just bring yourself and an open mind!

Wellness Committee Seeks Members
Are you interested in taking a look at the school lunch
program as the district prepares to ask for bids from food service companies?
Join the district Wellness Committee, which has that task as its focus this
year. The committee, which can include staff, parents and other community
members, meets once a month for 90 minutes at the Service Center. Its charge is
to help shape wellness policies and encourage healthy lifestyles. You can see

The search for our new assistant principal has started and we will begin interviewing next week. We will take our candidates through two interview cycles in the next two weeks to get to know them. We are excited about adding a new family member to the Hixson community and look forward to the process.
No School
There will be no school on Friday, February 16th for students. It is a Professional Development Day for district teachers. Students will also have off on February 19th for President's Day. I hope everyone enjoys the four day weekend.
